Pilates teaches body awareness, attention to detail of body mechanics, and a focus on neutral alignment of the joints- the place where the body has the most stability and least amount of stress of gravity through the joints. By developing Core strength and working for healthy posture and alignment, weight that has been previously distributed through the joints in an unhealthy or painful way is now shifted to better support our structure. This new alignment gives us an ease of movement, a decrease in pain, as well as access to incredible strength, flexibility and balance.
